Juneyao Air operates domestic and international flights from Shanghai, China. The airline was founded in 2005 and operates a fleet of 103 aircraft. It serves as a connecting partner for Star Alliance (this began in May 2017) and has codeshare flights with airlines in Star Alliance and non-alliance carriers. The airline also just added a cool, new plane to its fleet in celebration of the upcoming opening of the LEGOLAND® Shanghai Resort.

The Airbus A321 is decked out in Lego’s signature bright yellow along with Lego bricks and mini figures. Its inaugural flight from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA) to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) took off today. The new aircraft was created to celebrate the upcoming opening of the LEGOLAND® Shanghai Resort (it opens on July 5th).

Chen Jie, General Manager of the LEGOLAND® Shanghai Resort, said:

The Shanghai Legoland Jet is like a mobile Legoland soaring through the skies. It sparks excitement before visitors even arrive, turning every flight into the beginning of a creative journey.”

Juneyao Air and LEGOLAND® will soon offer combo airline and park tickets as a further tie-in for this partnership. The park is the 11th that Lego has opened globally and the first in China.

Anthony’s Take: I’m a sucker for a fun airplane livery. Whether that’s Super Mario Bros. or Star Wars, painting an aircraft with a fun design adds to excitement for both kids and adults alike.
