Happy Star Wars Day! I am a diehard fan of the galaxy far, far away and an AV geek. When May 4th rolls around, I always think about the airlines that have created Star Wars themed liveries. Several have partnered with Star Wars over the years to feature C-3PO, R2-D2, BB-8, stormtroopers, and more painted on their planes. I got to fly on United’s decked out aircraft several years ago and it was a total fanboy moment for me. Here are some liveries you might get to travel on in a galaxy not so far away (and a few that we have lost).

ANA Star Wars Jets

ANA

ANA was the first airline to introduce branded planes in 2015 and two of the three are still flying. If you find yourself on the airline, you might be lucky enough to fly on a plane branded with R2-D2 or C-3PO. It looks like BB-8 is no longer adorning an aircraft. A Boeing 777-200 is painted like C-3PO and a Boeing 787-9 is adorned in R2-D2’s likeness. The schedule of flights can be found here.

Alaska Star Wars

Alaska Airlines

Alaska debuted its Star Wars themed Boeing 737-800 to celebrate Disneyland on May 4th of 2022. The livery focuses on Galaxy’s Edge (the Disney-branded Star Wars theme park).

LATAM Star Wars

LATAM

LATAM also partnered with Disney/Star Wars on a Galaxy’s Edge plane. The Boeing 777-300 launched in 2019, but has since been repainted. I loved the Stormtrooper on the tail.

United Airlines

United partnered with Star Wars for the release of The Rise of Skywalker. The plane flew for several years and I was lucky enough to fly on it. When I saw the aircraft parked before boarding, I started gushing to the gate agent about how big a fan I was and how excited I was to fly on it. I played the Global Services card (which I was at the time) and told him it would mean a lot to me to be able to board the Boeing 737-800 first to take photos.

Anthony’s Take: I get excited about everything Star Wars and love flying. These partnerships add fun to the everyday. I hope to catch one of the ANA planes before they’re repainted in the future. May the Fourth be with you all.
