We had an early flight home from Mexico City International Airport (MEX) and spent the night at the Courtyard Mexico City Airport so that we would not have to worry about traffic in the morning. The hotel is most convenient if you’re departing Terminal 1, but we found it also worked with a flight out of Terminal 2 to Tampa International Airport (TPA) on Aeromexico.
Anthony’s Take: The Courtyard Mexico City Airport hotel was a good spot to spend the night before our flight the next morning. The suite was comfortable and the hotel offers everything you’ll need for a night before a flight.
Booking
I booked a 1 King Bed, Suite on a “Member Flexible Rate.” It was $185 per night including fees. This was only $20 more than a room and I thought that was a bargain to not have to wonder about upgrades. Marriott did away with award charts a few years ago, but redemptions can be had for between 17,600 and 29,500 Marriott Bonvoy® points for a standard room.
Transportation to/from the Hotel
We took an Uber Comfort from Andaz Mexico City Condesa to the hotel. The ride there took around 19 minutes (it’s around eight miles) and cost $14.
Location
The hotel is located across the street from Terminal 1 at Mexico City International Airport (MEX) and a short shuttle or Uber ride away from Terminal 2.
The hotel is located within a building that also houses some offices. Reception is located on the second floor.
Reception is close to the escalators.
The lobby is small with some seating separated into two areas.
It overlooks the courtyard you pass through when entering the building.
Check-in was quiet when we arrived around 7:00 PM. Our suite was ready. I booked a suite, so I was not expecting an upgrade. We did not need a late checkout and took points as a welcome amenity.
Once finished checking in, the agent brought me over to a game where I could roll a ball to win a snack or Marriott Bonvoy® points. I won 100 points. The maximum points awarded were 400. It was fun to play even of 100 points are worth next to nothing.
The elevators are down the hall and you need your room key to open the door and access them (as well as the nearby fitness center).
The elevator lobby and hallway on our floor were both clean and in good repair.
Half of the floor was blocked off and not accessible to guests.
The other half where our suite was located was fine. I’m not sure why part was blocked as there were not any signs.
1 King Bed, Suite (210)
There are 288 rooms and suites at the hotel.
The suite opened with a kitchenette to the left.
This included a microwave.
A coffee machine, coffee, cups, bottled water, and condiments were on the counter along with an ice bucket.
A sink was on the right side.
A refrigerator was under the sink.
The table seated four.
There was also a breakfast bar with three additional stools.
The living area was just past this breakfast bar. It contained a couch, chair, and several tables.
The room had one TV that was rotated between the living room and bedroom.
The closet in the living area held a robe, an extra blanket, an iron, an ironing board, and a luggage rack.
The bedroom held a desk with the TV above it when rotated.
A floor-length mirror was found here.
The bedroom also held a king-sized bed, two nightstands, and a chair.
The bed was firm, but comfortable.
The chair was next to a small cabinet that doubled as a luggage rack.
The bathroom was off of the bedroom. It contained a vanity with a single sink, toilet, and shower/tub combo.
A bar of 39° North Bath & Body brand soap and a small bottle of lotion were next to the sink.
More soap, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and bottled water for brushing your teeth were also found here.
The bathroom held a closet with the safe inside. The safe did not work.
The toilet was well space away from everything else.
I hate shower/tub combos. The water pressure was a bit weak, but the temperature was fine.
39° North Bath & Body shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel were mounted to the shower wall.
Public Areas & Amenities
The hotel has a fitness center, a mini market, a bar and restaurant, a pet relief area, a lounge just for flight crews, and a computer for guest use (pictured above).
The fitness center is near the elevators.
It’s a decent size with a good mix of equipment. There were people working out, so I limited photos.
The restaurant serves meals all day long.
We had something to eat shortly after arriving. Breakfast is offered here in the morning.
The bar is outside of the restaurant.
We had some Chicken Soup and Egg Rolls. These were a good snack.
The mini market is located next to the reception desks and sells snacks, beverages, and other sundries.
The pet relief area is located on the lobby level and a nice addition for those traveling with dogs.
Overall Impression:
The Courtyard Mexico City Airport was the perfect location for an early flight. The suite was comfortable, service was good, and we enjoyed the property for the 12 or so hours we were there.
