Delta Air Lines is cutting two flights to Central America from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Both El Salvador International Airport (SAL) and Guatemala City’s La Aurora International Airport (GUA) will be removed from the schedule in May. This news comes on the heels of Delta announcing that it’s adding flights to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC).

LAX

Flights to El Salvador International Airport (SAL) end on May 4th while Guatemala City’s La Aurora International Airport (GUA) will see service end on May 5th. Delta will continue to serve both cities from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). Both routes will also be flown to/from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) by Alaska, Avianca, United, and Volaris Costa Rica (for Guatemala) and Avianca, United, and Volaris El Salvador (for El Salvador).

Anthony’s Take: Delta (like all airlines) is consistently adjusting its schedule and these routes must not have had the loads to make them profitable.

They reduced the quality of service in the route (from GUA), but keeping the high prices. Of course, people isn’t stupid, they chose any of the other carriers. 🤷

I heard complaints about the service many times.
Delta in GUA since 2020 is nothing compared to Delta in 2019. Poor schedules, bad service, poor quality on board, they are paying the price now.
United for the win

Headline “slashing” is way overstating delta cutting 2 routes
