Marriott International’s Luxury Group contains some of my favorite brands like St. Regis, The Ritz-Carlton, W Hotels, and The Luxury Collection. There are big plans for these brands along with EDITION and JW Marriott in 2025 and onward. These include lots of new hotel openings as well as the modernization and renovation of some of Marriott’s most beloved properties.

Westin Palace Madrid Dome

The Luxury Collection

This year saw the opening of some exciting new hotels around the globe including the natural beauty surrounding Indonesia’s Ta’aktana, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Labuan Bajo and The Sira, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Lombok as well as Hôtel du Couvent, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Nice, France where a historic sanctuary was reimagined into serene retreat along the French Riviera. In the Americas, one of my favorite Las Vegas hotels, Bellagio, became a Luxury Collection Resort & Casino (review here). Almare, A Luxury Collection All-Inclusive Resort, Isla Mujeres debuted as the brand’s second all-inclusive offering. In Europe, Sanasaryan Han, a Luxury Collection Hotel opened in Istanbul and Koenigshof, a Luxury Collection Hotel started hosting guests in Munich. 2025 will see the openings of hotels in Italy, two in Greece, Poland, and Spain. Casa Brera, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Milan will join The Luxury Collection in January and The Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Madrid will unveil its restoration in March (I love this hotel and stayed many times when it was a Westin; full review here).

Ritz Carlton Sarasota 1

The Ritz-Carlton

The Ritz-Carlton expanded both on land and sea in 2024. It continued to redefine ultra-luxury travel with multiple openings and launches. The brand debuted in Morocco with The Ritz-Carlton Rabat, Dar es Salam. In Hawaii, The Ritz-Carlton Oahu, Turtle Bay welcomed guests to a reimagined island paradise. Saudi Arabia saw the opening of Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, a secluded retreat on a private island within the Red Sea. The Ritz-Carlton, Bangkok opened as a chic urban oasis in Thailand’s capital. At sea, The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection introduced Ilma, its second superyacht. Its 3rd vessel, Luminara is slated to launch in the summer of 2025. Next year, The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan is anticipated to return to Puerto Rico following a major renovation. The Ritz-Carlton Reserve portfolio will also grow with the opening ofNekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, in Costa Rica.

St. Regis Bal Harbour

St. Regis

I’m excited to check out The St. Regis Longboat Key Resort, which opened on Florida’s Gulf Coast (we have a stay booked in January). The St. Regis on the Bund, Shanghai seamlessly blended modern glamour with the rich heritage of China’s most cosmopolitan city. The St. Regis Belgrade brought luxury and an architectural masterpiece to Serbia and The St. Regis Al Mouj, Muscat introduced many to the Omani Riviera lifestyle destination. next year, the brand plans to open two more beachfront luxury properties with The St. Regis Aruba Resort on Palm Beach and The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort in the Dominican Republic.

W Hollywood 5

W Hotels

In 2024, W Hotels began its global brand transformation. This included the remodel of its West Coast flagship: W Hollywood (full review here). The W Prague marked the brand’s debut in the Czech Republic and the W Las Vegas announced the brand’s return to the iconic Las Vegas Strip. In 2025, W Hotels plans to further transform with the redesign of its global flagship, W New York – Union Square and the brand’s entry into the all-inclusive space with the adults-only W Punta Cana. W is also expanding in Italy with the opening of W Florence.

EDITION Hotels

I’ve never stayed at an EDITION hotel, but there are several on my list. The brand debuted its first location in Saudi Arabia with The Jeddah EDITION this year. In 2025, The Lake Como EDITION is set to transform a 19th-century mansion into an intimate retreat. The brand also plans to open its second location in Saudi Arabia with the unveiling of The Red Sea EDITION, located on the main island of The Red Sea Project.

JW Marriott

In 2024, JW Marriott opened the JW Marriott St. Maarten Beach Resort & Spa and the JW Marriott Hotel Nairobi, which is Kenya’s tallest hotel. In China, the opening of JW Marriott Hotel Taiyuan combined modern luxury with a rich history. In 2025, JW Marriott plans to open hotels and resorts around the globe, including the JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll Island Resort in the Maldives, the JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa (my favorite Greek island), and the JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo.

Anthony’s Take: There are so many exciting openings and refreshes coming in 2025. I want to check out them all. If only the budget and time off from the day job allowed this to be a reality.
