British Airways updated its schedule this week and it looks like it’s suspending flights between London Heathrow International Airport (LHR) and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). American will add a fifth daily flight when this route is removed from the schedule on March 30th.
Can’t say I saw this coming, but it’s happening.
British Airways will suspend flights to Dallas (DFW) starting March 30, but will likely resume at the end of October.
Joint venture partner American will add a 5th daily DFW-LHR flight to make up for some of the lost capacity.… https://t.co/4ViyAEtvyx

American Airlines and British Airways have a transatlantic joint venture and are both members of the oneworld® Alliance. American will fill the capacity lost by this cut with a fifth daily flight between the UK and Texas. British Airways has originally planned to use an Airbus A380 on this route next summer. The carrier then it swapped in a smaller Airbus A350 before finally dropping the route.
Aviation watchdog, @IshrionA called this change out first. It’s been stated that the route will return on October 26th after a several month takeover by American. The joint venture allows the two carriers to switch who operates a route and this could change back to British Airways in the future.
Anthony’s Take: American made limited adds to its international schedule because it did not have the aircraft. Somehow it found one for this route (my guess is that American feels it has the capacity and can well monetize it).
