American Airlines announced in September that it was adding five new European routes next summer back in September. Today, it shared that two more routes to Italy will be added to the map with flights from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to/from Naples-Capodichino International Airport (NAP) and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to/from Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) taking flight.

American will operate its largest-ever schedule to Italy in summer 2025. This includes previously announced flights to/from Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) served from both New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and Leonardo da Vinci Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) (from five of its hubs). American currently serves Naples-Capodichino International Airport (NAP) and Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) from both Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD).

Both of the latest flights will be operated by Boeing 787-8 aircraft with 21 Business Class, 28 Premium Economy, 48 Main Cabin Extra, and 138 Main Cabin seats.

Brian Znotins, American’s Senior Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning, said:

As Italy continues to remain popular for summertime travel, American is making it easier than ever for customers to shop, dine or unwind in their favorite destinations. Whether reveling in the history of Rome or relaxing on a beach on the Mediterranean, American’s network will offer more ways for customers to plan their perfect itinerary.”

Anthony’s Take: Italy is one of my favorite countries and I love that there will be so much capacity next summer.
