The Diplomat Beach Resort Hollywood, Curio Collection by Hilton is an iconic resort in Hollywood, FL. I used to stay at the resort several times per year when it was the Westin Diplomat. It became part of Hilton’s Curio Collection in 2014. I stayed once shortly after, had a horrible visit, and never returned. Now, the hotel is being refreshed and rebranded as the Signia by Hilton Diplomat Beach Resort. It might be time for me to make another trip there once the dust settles.

If you’re not familiar with the Signia by Hilton brand, don’t worry. This hotel will only be the fifth location in the chain. Other locations include Atlanta, Orlando, San Jose, and Amman (which will open in 2025). Hilton describes the Signia brand as:

Signia by Hilton is a portfolio of exceptional hotels in gateway cities and resort destinations. Each Signia by Hilton hotel infuses sophistication into every stay, offering the world’s best meetings and events, a vibrant atmosphere, exceptional amenities and personalized service catered to the needs of today’s global traveler.”

In 2023, the hotel was sold to Honolulu-based Trinity Investments and Credit Suisse Asset Management for $835 million. When it reopens as the Signia by Hilton Diplomat Beach Resort, it will include a new oceanfront meeting terrace, a VIP pool deck, a redesigned patio at the Point Royal restaurant, and a new terrace that connects the hotel and its convention center. The hotel will see the addition of lush greenery, new art, and a complete refresh of the hotel’s public spaces. The lobby will blend indoor and outdoor elements and a bar found there will feature seasonal cocktails and Mediterranean small bites.

A new infinity pool terrace will offer adults-only cabana rentals, daybeds, fire pits, and direct bar access. When the hotel lost its Westin branding, it closed the lounge located at the top of the hotel. This was a big loss and a place where I enjoyed many breakfasts. The lounge is returning as Club Signia (accessible to guests for a fee). Club Signia will be located on the 33rd floor and offer 6,600 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, panoramic ocean views, as well as food and drinks. The resorts six restaurants are also getting updated with new menus and cuisines.

Anthony’s Take: I used to love the Westin Diplomat and am excited to see a new hotel being brought to life here. I look forward to checking out the Signia by Hilton Diplomat Beach Resort in the future.

I am glad to see some improvements done at that property. It had sort of started to embody everything I hated about South Florida (when I lived in Victoria Park, Ft Lauderdale). It’s very much a “Pella Windows Midwest Region Sales Conference” where a generic beach atmosphere and buffet dinner of something “Caribbean” like jerk chicken and pineapple slaw is part of the reward for Marty from Edina. Good to partially capitalize on that which they are, and get back on track to being one of the properties synonymous with Ft Lauderdale-area Beach
