I had to take two trips between Chicago O’ Hare International Airport (ORD) and Tampa International Airport (TPA) this week. Thankfully, we were spared any damage from Hurricane Helene (my heart goes out to all those that experience loss of property or life in the aftermath of the storm). This past week was filled with new route announcements, route cuts, passengers behaving badly, and more in the world of travel.

Virgin SAS

Airlines

United introduced new wines in Economy Class, an Air India passenger found an unwelcome addition to their meal, plus-sized passengers might soon have to pay for two seats on Southwest, Spirit considers Chapter 11, and routes were added and cut on United, Frontier, Breeze Airways, Spirit Airlines, Aer Lingus, and more.

W Hollywood 5

Hotels

My reviews of the Hyatt House Chicago/West Loop-Fulton Market and the newly renovated W Hollywood, Marriott and Starbucks changed up their partnership, World of Hyatt launched another promo, and Jersey City ranks as the second most expensive city for hotel rooms in the United States.

Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge YYZ 2

Lounges

Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders now get access to Air Canada’s lounges.

Global Entry 2

Destinations & Travel News

Global Entry bumped up its cost for the first time in 15 years, TSA PreCheck® added two new airlines, and Chicago is named the the “Best Big City” for the 8th consecutive year.

Matchbox 20 Drummer

Passengers Behaving Badly

A Cathay Pacific flight had to divert to Tokyo, the drummer from Matchbox 20 had the perfect song for a racist passenger who was offloaded from a United flight, and passengers had to step in to protect a woman from an abusive seatmate.
