A passenger was denied boarding on a JetBlue flight to Haiti’s Toussaint Louverture International Airport (PAP). The man flipped out and began destroying the check-in area at New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK). This is the second incident in recent weeks where a passenger has taken their anger out on the check-in counter. A man in Chile caused $22,000 worth of damage in late August.
A commenter added that the man was trying to get back to Haiti because his sister had just been killed. He thought someone lied to him at the airline and spun out with his rage. JetBlue is one of the few US airlines that is still serving Haiti’s Toussaint Louverture International Airport (PAP). Spirit flies to/from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and American Airlines flies to/from Miami International Airport (MIA).
The man shouted and ranted while destroying the check-in area. He throws a trash can and a baggage sizer in the midst of his-caused melee. Eventually, a police officer arrived, subdued him, and then escorted the man away.
Anthony’s Take: This behavior is unacceptable regardless of what one is going through. He’s definitely not making the JetBlue flight and will be headed back to Haiti under the care of immigration officers.
