American Airlines flight AA1603 from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) was forced to divert to Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) after a bomb threat was scribbled on the lavatory door. A flight attendant noticed the pink writing and alerted the captain who made the call to divert.
CBS News reports that the aircraft safely touched down on September 4th. It was met by the Federal Bureau of Investigation(FBI) agents and local law enforcement. The Boeing 737-800 was inspected with a K-9 unit and cleared to return to service when nothing was found on board. An almost five-hour delay resulted from the threat, but thankfully this was a hoax and passengers arrived with nothing more than a delay. No suspects have been identified and the investigation is ongoing as the agents could not tell the age of the writing.
Anthony’s Take: I wonder if the passengers had any clue as to what was going on when they landed in Pittsburgh. Thankfully, this was a non-issue.
