After our flight to Manchester Airport (MAN) on Singapore Airlines (MAN) (review here), we had around six hours before our flight to Corfu International Airport “Ioannis Kapodistrias”. Rather than sit in the terminal or try to get into a lounge for all of those hours, we walked over to the Radisson Blu Hotel, Manchester Airport and I inquired about a day rate. They had a room available and we spent around four hours there before heading to The Escape Lounge in Terminal 3 (review here).
Anthony’s Take: The Radisson Blu Hotel, Manchester Airport is perfectly located for a long layover at the airport. It was on our walk between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 (Terminal 1 is close to 3 and easily accessible as well). We just went to the room and showered, napped, and relaxed, the hotel also has a good number of amenities. These include a cute lobby, several restaurants, a fitness center, a business center, and a pool. We didn’t take advantage of any of the amenities, but were quite pleased to have the room after an overnight, transatlantic flight.
Booking
I booked a room by walking into the lobby and asking if a day rate was available. The desk agent said that they had an open room for £95 including taxes and fees and I took it. We were tired and wanted to shower after our flight. This was the perfect option.
Transportation to/from the Hotel
As mentioned, we had just arrived from Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) on a Singapore Airlines flight.
Location
To get to the hotel, we followed the walkway from Terminal 2 and came across it halfway to Terminal 3. It’s easily accessible from all three terminals.
Check-In
The agent was friendly and acknowledged that we were tired. She had keys printed in seconds and we were in the elevator a few minutes later. I don’t have any status, so there were no benefits here. She did upgrade us to a Premium Room. These are the same size as the Standard Rooms, but include a Nespresso machine and other upgraded amenities.
The lobby is open with lots of seating along the right wall.
There are multiple check-in desks along the left side.
One more is dedicated for Radisson Rewards members.
The elevators are on the back wall.
This cute mailbox was for Express Checkout.
Our room was located on the eighth floor. It overlooked an atrium with this stone art.
The elevators were speedy and clean.
The hallways were also in good repair.
Premium Class Room (815)
The hotel has 360 guest rooms and suites.
The room opens with the bathroom on the right. It included a vanity with single sink, toilet, and shower/tub combo.
Radisson branded Hand Wash and Hand & Body Lotion were mounted near the sink.
The bathroom was small, but there was enough space by the toilet.
A vanity kit and shower cap were on a shelf over the toilet.
The shower/tub combo was fine. I’m not a big fan of bathtubs, but the water pressure and temperature were both good.
More Radisson-branded toiletries were on the wall of the shower.
A wardrobe was across from the bathroom.It held a safe, luggage rack, iron, and ironing board.
A cabinet was located next to the wardrobe with a Nespresso coffeemaker, coffee, condiments, glasses, and refrigerator.
Mugs, glasses, tea, and condiments were on a shelf below the Nespresso machine.
The refrigerator held beverages for sale as well as space for guest use.
The king-sized bed was reasonably comfortable and was flanked by end tables with a good number of outlets.
An arm chair and table were in the corner.
A desk and chair were across near the windows.
The TV was mounted on the wall across from the bed.
Public Areas & Amenities
The hotel’s lobby has the seating shown above. Other than that, there is a fitness center, pool, two restaurants and a bar, Wi-Fi, a mini market (pictured above), meeting rooms, and an executive business lounge.
Collage Restaurant & Grill is open for dinner.
Little M Bar is open for snacks and drinks from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
The space around the restaurants is open.
The indoor pool is open daily.
A fitness center is also available for guest use.
Overall Impression: The Radisson Blu Hotel, Manchester Airport is a great spot for a layover. It has everything you need whether you’re here for a few hours or overnight.
