Delta Air Lines has started offering free Wi-Fi on select long-haul international routes. Most of its transatlantic flights are expected to offer free Wi-Fi powered by T-Mobile by the end of the summer.
Passengers on select Viasat-equipped, long-haul international flights will enjoy fast, free Wi-Fi starting now. This moves Delta one step closer to offering complimentary Wi-Fi across its entire global fleet. Today, free, streaming-quality connectivity is available on nearly 700 Delta aircraft, which represents more than 90% of the carrier’s domestic mainline fleet. Delta says that the majority of its customers will have access by the end of 2024.
Ranjan Goswami, SVP of Customer Experience Design at Delta, said:

The scale at which we’re bringing free Wi-Fi to customers is unmatched in the airline industry, and it’s a testament to the incredible efforts of Delta teams across the business that have expertly navigated an extremely complex rollout.”
To ensure a premium customer experience, Delta is rolling out free Wi-Fi on Viasat-equipped widebody aircraft on a route-by-route basis. Additional routes will be added as the service becomes available. This strategy mirrors how domestic installations were handled in 2022. Initially, the international Wi-Fi portal will not require a SkyMiles log-in. Later this year, this will change to the Delta Sync Wi-Fi experience that customers are used to on Delta flights.
Here is the timeline by destination:
- August: United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, and Italy
- September: Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Greece, Portugal, Sweden, and Switzerland
- October: South America (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru) followed by Hawaii
- December/January 2025: Nigeria, Ghana, and Senegal
- Mid-Late 2025: Transpacific region (including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand) and South Africa
Anthony’s Take: I love that Delta offers free Wi-Fi. United charges $8 domestic and more internationally. It also is hit or miss in terms of it working. American always seems exorbitant. Delta’s Wi-Fi is reliable and I look forward to it being free on more routes soon.
