The Querencia de Sevilla hotel is part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. It’s a new addition to Seville having just opened in April 2022. The hotel is in the former headquarters of Banco Andalucía and it is steps away from some of the city’s best attractions.
Anthony’s Take: The Querencia de Sevilla is a great hotel in the heart of the city with modern rooms, a nice breakfast buffet, friendly service, and great elite recognition. Its location offers most of the major attractions just steps outside your door. The rooftop pool is a great place to relax after a day out.
Booking
I booked a Deluxe Terraza, Guest room, 1 King, Terrace directly from Marriott.com on a “Member Rate Stay for Breakfast” rate as it was only a few dollars more than the “Member Flexible Rate” that I would normally book. My welcome amenity was 1,000 points and I still got my breakfast. If your room rate doesn’t include it, Platinum and above elites can select it complimentary. I applied Suite Night Awards (SNAs) to the reservation and was able to clear five days in advance as an Ambassador to an Junior Suite (which was selling for over 600 euros per night while I was there). The Querencia de Sevilla can also be booked with Bonvoy points (41,000-63,000 points per night) with rates varying since Marriott eliminated its award categories.
Transportation to/from the Hotel
We took an Uber van from Seville Airport to the hotel. It cost 30 euros and took around 20 minutes to drive the approximately 11.9 kilometers with minimal traffic. When we left the hotel, we were headed to Sevilla Santa Justa train station. It’s around 5 kilometers away, cost 12 euros for a van, and took less than 10 minutes door to door.
Location
The location of this hotel is impossible to beat. It’s less than five minutes to Seville Cathedral, just a few more to the Alcàzar of Seville, and not far from lots of other attractions, restaurants, and shopping. As soon as you walk out the door you’re greeted by the hustle of the city and Flamenco dancers in the square across from the hotel.
Check-in
We arrived at the hotel around 10:00 AM and our room was ready. We asked if my mother and mother-in-law’s rooms were ready and they managed to get them into rooms as well. After a long flight from the US and a connection to Seville, it was great to be able to freshen up right away. There were multiple employees at the desks and the process was quick and efficient. Breakfast, elite benefits, and a brief overview of the hotel were given. A 4:00 PM checkout, as requested, was granted and we were in our suite within a few minutes.
Junior Suite (401)
There are 95 rooms and suites at the Querencia de Sevilla. Our upgrade to a Junior Suite was located on the 4th floor.
Immediately inside the room was a large vanity with a single bowl sink.
The toiletries were Naturals brand. They had a fragrant citrus scent and there were many items provided beyond soap and shampoo.
A bottle of perfume was also provided. I saw this same bottle in a souvenir shop retailing for 20 euros. It was under three ounces, so I took it home.
Across from the sink was an enclosed shower and bath tub. I liked the design on the shower glass.
To the right of the shower/tub was a toilet with a door for privacy.
To the left of the shower/tub was the bedroom area with a comfortable King-size bed.
The attention to detail and sense of place were evident throughout the suite.
Further down the hall was a table with two chairs and a welcome amenity.
The welcome amenity was chocolate in a pretty box was on the table along with the manager’s business card.
Another view into the Junior Suite from the table and chairs.
Great views of Seville Cathedral in the distance and the cool building in front of us that housed a Häagen Dazs.
Wrapped around the corner was the living room with a couch, chair, and buffet containing the minibar and coffee/tea setup.
Coffee and tea were provided complimentary with a Nespresso machine as well as a kettle for tea.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served each morning in a restaurant called “La Maestría.” It’s not a huge buffet, but it offered a quality selection of breads and pastries, fruit, yogurt, cereal, and multiple hot items that can be ordered from a menu. Breakfast was included in our rate but I could have selected it as a welcome amenity as an Ambassador (Platinum and Titanium guests also have this option).
Meats and cheeses on the buffet.
Yogurt and fresh-squeezed juices.
A selection of fresh fruit.
More fruit and smoked salmon (which I always have wherever I am if it’s available).
Breads and pastries were available and guests were quickly eating them. They were refilled multiple times during our meal.
Public Areas & Amenities
Querencia de Sevilla offers several common areas for guests to relax indoors as well as an expansive rooftop with a pool.
There are several tables open to guests for relaxing outside of the restaurant where breakfast is served.
To the left of the tables pictured above is a serene patio with fountain. A quiet hideaway within the hotel and completely empty while we were there.
The rooftop offers tons of seating and panoramic views of the city.
More seating and great views.
A great view of Seville Cathedral.
The rooftop pool, which is a rarity for city hotels.
Before leaving the lobby, take a moment to check out the original Joan Miró painting titled Las Grandes Maniobras.
Overall Impression: Querencia de Sevilla is a modern hotel with a great location and sense of style. All of the major sights are mere steps away. The hotel offers great service and Marriott Bonvoy recognition.
