On our way back from Paris, we spent a night in Toronto. St. Regis is my favorite brand in the Marriott portfolio, so I had to check out the St. Regis Toronto. The surrounding area is a traffic nightmare due to construction occurring everywhere in the city, but the hotel itself was lovely.

Anthony’s Take: The downtown location is good for both business and leisure travelers. We were able to walk to the CF Toronto Eaton Centre (a huge shopping mall) and a Christmas market. Any remnants of the hotel’s former identity (Trump Hotel) have been exorcised and the hotel did a good job of remodeling in 2018.

St Regis Toronto Booking

Booking

I booked a Superior King Bed, Guest Room, 1 King, City View directly from Marriott.com using Marriott Bonvoy® points. It cost 52,000 points per night. If I had paid cash, the Standard Rate was $605. I thought this redemption offered good value. As I did, the hotel is a good value most nights when booked with Bonvoy points (52,000-88,000 points per night). Rates vary since Marriott eliminated its award buckets.

Transportation to/from the Hotel

We took an Uber Comfort from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to the St. Regis Toronto The ride took around 54 minutes to go the 29.7 kilometers and cost around $44. The return trip was a similar cost and time.

Check-in

Our flight was delayed and we arrived at the hotel around 7:00 PM. We were told that we had been given a suite upgrade and that it was ready. I was offered a welcome amenity of 1,000 points or breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant. Breakfast consists of a Canadian Breakfast plate each or a $60 CAD credit daily for two guests. I was asked if I needed a late checkout and was given the 2:00 PM that I requested. We were off to our suite a moment later.

Overall Impression: The St. Regis Toronto offers a luxe and comfortable base while visiting the city. Breakfast was nice and I loved that the hotel was so elegantly decorated for the holidays.
