It’s a good idea to keep your shoes on for many reasons while flying. That’s likely not water on the lavatory floor and no one wanting to see your bare feet while on board lead the list. A pair of recent flights cement the reasoning of why your shoes should stay on for the duration of your flight.

American Airlines flight AA2308 between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) saw a dog come out of its carrier and then relieve itself in the aisle yesterday. The pooch was said to not be a service animal, so it should have remained contained in its carrier for the flight. Instead, it pooped in the aisle and made the rest of the plane deal with it for the duration of the flight.

Meanwhile on April 22nd, Spirit Airlines flight NK1595 between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) had a mysterious liquid flowing down the aisle from one of the rear lavatories. Spirit confirmed that “a potable water line connected to a sink in the rear lavatory” was the culprit. This is much better than it being an overflowing toilet like I wrote about last month on a United flight from Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) to San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

Anthony’s Take: As the old expression goes, s$&t happens. Keep your shoes on so you don’t end up walking through it.
