WestJet is Canada’s second largest airline. It serves 100 destinations globally and is closely aligned with Delta Air Lines. The carrier just made some updates to its network and eight routes to/from the United States got the axe.

The routes that WestJet includes:

  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to/from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) (JetBlue will operate this route seasonally from June 11th through September 8th.)
  • Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to/from Edmonton International Airport (YEG) (United operates this route seasonally from May 27th to September 5th.)
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to/from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) (Air Canada and Porter Airlines both fly this route.)
  • Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) to/from Calgary International Airport (YYC)
  • San Diego International Airport (SAN) to/from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) (Air Canada flies this route.)
  • San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to/from Edmonton International Airport (YEG) (Air Canada flies this route.)
  • San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to/from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) (Air Canada and United fly this route multiple times each day.)
  • Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to/from Edmonton International Airport (YEG) (Alaska Airlines currently flies this route.)

Anthony’s Take: None of these routes will be left without a nonstop option. WestJet is pulling back a bit in the United States and it will be interesting to see where these aircraft are redeployed.
