United’s catering ranges from okay to downright inedible, but most of the time you are given what you order without surprise ingredients. One passenger was not too lucky and found a little something extra in his meal while flying between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
@united – as if the chicken fat bite wasnt inedible enough on its own. Bugs? How bout gettin those plus points back. Flt 2679 4B pic.twitter.com/FcX3n9pV8F

The passenger shared a photo of his meal, which looks like enchiladas complete with some sort of insect near his fork. Yum!
This is not the first time that a passenger has been surprised to find odd things in their meals. A United passenger last year found a piece of metal wire mixed into his dish. He sustained serious injuries and is suing the airline.
Anthony’s Take: I’ve compared the catering in Polaris to prison food and I still say that it’s nothing great and certainly not a premium experience. Bugs are a whole other issue and while I’m sure this was not common, it’s still pretty gross.
