United Airlines shared the most booked international destinations by state this week. The list is interesting as Cancún is what most Americans think of for a holiday, but Tokyo across huge swaths of the country surprised me.

The top 10 international destinations booked on United are:
- London
- Cancún
- Tokyo
- Toronto
- Vancouver
- Rome
- Mexico City
- Paris
- Cabo San Lucas
- Frankfurt
I’m guessing Frankfurt is mainly for connections or exploring other parts of Germany as the city is not that interesting for tourists. Around 51% of Americans don’t have passports, so half the country is not even exiting the United States. But, those that are seem to align on where they want to go (with the exception of Arkansas and Arizona as San Salvador and Taipei are only leading in those states).
Anthony’s Take: I’ve been to all in the top 10 list and largely recommend these destinations (with the exception of Cancún). Do you agree? Are you booking any of these in 2026?
