We’re heading to Puglia in July for 10 days to explore the region. I took advantage of the recent addition of service from Denver International Airport (DEN) to Istanbul Airport (IST). Our final destination is Salento Airport (BDS) in Brindisi. Outbound we’re headed in a rather indirect way, but I purchased cash tickets for us to get home much faster. Unfortunately, this morning I got an email from Air Dolomiti saying that our flight was cancelled and that there were no other options.
I had originally booked flights from Denver International Airport (DEN) to Istanbul Airport (IST) using miles. We were then going to spend the day in Munich before heading to Salento Airport (BDS) in Brindisi. Now, I need to either find a connecting flight (there are some) or skip Munich and find another way out of Istanbul.
Air Dolomiti S.p.A. is an Italian regional airline and a subsidiary of Lufthansa. I’ve flown them before and loved the service. We don’t need to be in Munich, but it worked with award availability and flight times. Air Dolomiti does not make refunds easy and they require a call even in the case of cancellation. I’ll handle that later today, but am a bit annoyed that it has to be so time consuming and not something that can be handled online.
Anthony’s Take: I now need to find a new flight. Anyone been to Puglia? Any route suggestions out of Istanbul? At least I enjoy booking flights and route planning.

We are flying IST-BRI(Bari) then Trenitalia to Lecce (BDS is in between, I believe). Not sure where you are headed exactly in Puglia Might see if that’s available.
Fly to Bari … it’s not that far at all. We flew GTW-BRI as part of our honeymoon pre-pandemic on EasyJet. It’s about 90 minutes north of Brindisi, and AirDolomiti goes there from Munich (just very very late at night).
Agreed on going to Bari
