Yesterday, I wrote about a slew of new Amex Offers available on the Platinum Card® from American Express for savings with Delta Air Lines, Hertz, Hilton, and JetBlue (plus others for Sephora, Lululemon, and more retailers). That’s not the only way that Amex is celebrating 40 years of its premium card, though. Other experiences and offers include:

  • Complimentary 3rd Night at Select Hotels: Platinum Card® Members can access a complimentary 3rd night on eligible stays at select Fine Hotels + Resorts® and The Hotel Collection properties booked through American Express Travel®.
  • Platinum Card 40% Point Transfer Offer: Platinum Card Members get 40% more Hilton Honors™ Points when they transfer Membership Rewards® points through from May 9th to May 31st. Offer is only available to current Platinum Card Members on a Platinum Account opened on or before April 20th.
  • 40 Nights of Platinum: Platinum Card Members can celebrate 40 Nights of Platinum where they enjoy special access to select Global Dining Access by Resy restaurants across the U.S., such as Coqodaq (NYC), Dante BH (LA) and Mandolin (Miami) from May 30th to September 26th.
  • U.S. Centurion Lounges: U.S. Centurion Lounges will celebrate the 40th anniversary with a new Platinum-themed cocktail, the Platinum 1984, created by mixologist Jim Meehan, and special treats for cardmembers visiting the lounges this summer.
  • Premium Events: Platinum Card Members will have exclusive access to specially curated events within the Premium Events Collection™ (formerly known as By Invitation Only).

Howard Grosfield, President of US Consumer Services at American Express, said:

This summer we are taking a moment to thank our Platinum Card Members for their loyalty,. Since its launch in 1984, the Platinum Card has set the bar for premium Cards, and it continues to do so today because we connect people to what they love.”

The Platinum Card® from American Express was introduced in 1984 with premium travel benefits designed for global travelers. Today, the Platinum Card offers more than 40 premium lifestyle and travel benefits and services that give cardmembers access to over $1,500 in value annually with credits on select purchases and other benefits across dining, travel, entertainment, retail, and wellness.

Anthony’s Take: Happy 40th to The Platinum Card® from American Express. I look forward to redeeming the Amex Offers and am looking at some of the bonus hotel night offers.

Anthony’s Credit Card Pick: I love the lounges where The Platinum Card® from American Express grants me access. It has had a prominent place in my wallet for many years now. While it does have an annual fee of $695, it provides many travel benefits and will always be my go-to for lounge access (both Delta Sky Clubs® and Centurion Lounges) and booking airfare from the airlines to earn 5x points (up to $500,000 per calendar year).
