A few months ago, I had never even heard of Arajet. In December, I first wrote about the low-cost airline and the flag carrier of the Dominican Republic. Its operations began in September 2022 with a flight to Colombia’s Ernesto Cortissoz International Airport (BAO). The carrier began flying to the United States this year with Miami International Airport (MIA) and San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) as destinations. It then announced plans to add 4x weekly flights to/from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) starting on June 16th and 4x weekly flights to/from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) beginning on November 20th. Flights to/from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) were announced last week. This route will run 3x weekly and begin on November 15th. Arajet has now unveiled its sixth US route: Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB).

Flights between Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) and Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) will begin on October 26th and run 3x weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The airline uses Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft that have the capacity to reach any city on the East Coast and some in the Midwest. Arajet is growing so quickly and the route announcements are coming fast and furious.

Arajet will also offer passengers easy connections across the Caribbean and Latin America. It serves more than 25 destinations across 17 countries including Aruba, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, and others. To celebrate the new route, Arajet is offering a discount. Use the promo code “#HOLAORLANDO” to save up to 30% off the base fare. Taxes and fees are not included and oddly the discount only applies to one passenger, but you can book separate reservations.

Víctor Pacheco Méndez, CEO and Founder of Arajet, said:

Launching service in Orlando marks another important milestone for Arajet as we continue our rapid growth across the United States. Florida is a cornerstone of our expansion strategy, and Orlando is the perfect place to strengthen our U.S. footprint as one of the most visited cities in the world and home to a vibrant Dominican and Latin community. After seeing record-breaking sales and sold-out flights in Miami, expanding to Orlando is a natural next step as we grow our U.S. network and fulfill our mission of making Caribbean travel more accessible.”

Anthony’s Take: Arajet has piqued my curiosity and I just booked a flight from Chicago. I’ll report back in November with the experience. Let’s see what Arajet adds next.
