I flew from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) this morning on United Airlines. I have eaten most of the breakfast options, but had been hesitant to try the Tomato and Kale Baked Egg as I generally loathe kale. Surprisingly, I loved it. The kale was subtle, the pastry was flaky, and the tomato, red pepper sauce, and eggs all worked well together.
The Tomato and Kale Baked Egg is served with fire roasted red pepper sauce and chicken apple sausage. The sauce was not spicy (I wish it was), but it had a great flavor and complemented the dish well.
The tray came with a fruit salad, a Chobani Greek Vanilla yogurt, and a croissant. These were all fine. I wish United would offer a choice of breakfast breads like American serves, but these flattened croissants appear to be here to stay.
Anthony’s Take: This is a great choice for breakfast and left me happy and quite full. I’ve said it multiple times lately and I will keep repeating it: United is slowly improving its catering. Now, it just needs to get Polaris to be truly premium.
