STARLUX Airlines is entering the European market for the first time with the launch of nonstop flights between Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) and Prague’s Václav Havel Airport (PRG). The new route will begin on August 1st and run 3x weekly (until October when it will increase to 4x weekly).
According to estimates from Prague’s Václav Havel Airport (PRG), the route could attract more than 95,000 passengers during its first year of operation. The new route will be operated by the Airbus A350-900. These aircraft offer four First Class, 26 Business Class, 36 Premium Economy, and 240 Economy Class seats.

Prague becomes STARLUX’ first destination in Europe and its sixth long-haul market, overall. It joins an existing intercontinental network that includes Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Ontario International Airport (ONT), Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). Until now, the airline’s long-haul flying has been centered exclusively on North America. The Prague launch is a strategic step toward broader global reach.
The new route also places STARLUX in direct competition with China Airlines, which became the first Taiwanese carrier to offer nonstop flights there in 2023. STARLUX continues to expand its fleet aggressively in support of its network growth. The airline expects to take delivery of 14 new aircraft this year (increasing its fleet size to 43). In early January, it received Taiwan’s first Airbus A350-1000 (with five more of the 18 A350-1000s on order scheduled for delivery this year).
Anthony’s Take: Founded in early 2020, STARLUX Airlines has grown quickly from a regional startup into a premium long-haul carrier. The launch of direct flights to Prague signals the airline’s ambition to establish a meaningful presence in Europe while building on its strong foothold across Asia and North America. I have never flown the airline, but I really want to try out its luxe Business Class at some point in the future.
