Spirit Airlines is revamping its booking experience with the introduction of clearer, more intuitive names for its cabins. The move is designed to help travelers better understand what they’re booking while providing new names that appeal to travelers looking for more premium experiences.

New Spirit Classes

Effective today, passengers will see three options when booking: Spirit First, Premium Economy, and Value. Here is the breakdown of what each offers:

  • Spirit First (formerly Go Big): This includes the Big Front Seat®, one carry-on and one checked bag, complimentary snacks and alcoholic beverages, free Wi-Fi, Priority Check-In, Priority Boarding, reserved overhead bin space, and no change or cancellation fees with these fares.
  • Premium Economy (formerly Go Comfy): Premium Economy offers extra-legroom seats or blocked middle seats (currently being phased out, which did not take long), one carry-on, Priority Boarding, reserved overhead bin space, and no change or cancel fees. Spirit is installing extra-legroom Premium Seats across its fleet. These feature four additional inches of legroom. The new seats will be available starting July 9th, and are expected to eventually replace the blocked middle seat configuration currently offered.
  • Value (formerly Go): This option offers the most economical fare with the flexibility for travelers to customize their trip by purchasing extras like seat selection, carry-on bags, and checked baggage.

Spirit is also phasing out its Go Savvy option, though existing reservations will be honored. This renaming initiative is part of Spirit’s ongoing, broader transformation. Spirit’s changes look to deliver a budget-friendly yet elevated flying experience for all travelers.

Rana Ghosh, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Spirit Airlines, said:

We’re simplifying choices so travelers can better understand and compare their options and the exceptional value that Spirit provides. Our Big Front Seat has been one of the best-kept secrets, and these updates will bring more travelers in the know that Spirit offers one of the industry’s most affordable options for a premium experience.”

Anthony’s Take: Simplicity is key to making customers understand what they’re buying. This makes sense and the front is not finally called First Class.
