Spirit Airlines announced yesterday that it is adding four new routes to/from Tampa International Airport (TPA). The seasonal flights will only last between March 6th and April 9th. My winter home airport is about to get a lot busier with spring break travelers hoping for some sun. Some days the airport expects to serve over 100,000 passengers.
The four new routes include:
- Kansas City International Airport (MCI) (3x weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays between March 7th and April 9th)
- Memphis International Airport (MEM) (3x weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays between March 7th and April 9th)
- Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) (4x weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays between March 6th and April 8th)
- Nashville International Airport (BNA) (4x weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays between March 8th and April 8th)
All of these flights will be operated with Spirit’s Airbus A320 aircraft. These feature eight Big Front Seats and 174 Economy Class seats.
John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines, said:
Tampa’s many attractions and unique culture make it a fun spring break destination, and Spirit’s new seasonal nonstop flights will make it easier for our Guests in Kansas City, Memphis, Milwaukee, and Nashville to visit Florida’s Gulf Coast. The additional routes also give our Tampa guests an affordable and convenient way to explore four new destinations this spring.”
Anthony’s Take: I needed a flight home from a conference in Nashville and this Spirit flight worked out perfectly. It’s going to be a busy month in Tampa. I’m hoping we actually get some nice weather as this winter has been cold and rainy.
