The SkyTeam Istanbul Lounge caught fire this morning and has suffered extensive damage. Due to the fire, the lounge at Istanbul Airport (IST) will be closed for an indefinite period of time.
The video above shows the flames shooting out of the lounge. Firefighters and airport staff were able to contain the fire, but the full extent of the damage has not yet been reported.
The lounge will be closed for the foreseeable future and has been noted on the SkyTeam site. Matthew from Live and Let’s Fly reports that eligible premium cabin and SkyTeam passengers with access can use the IGA Lounge at Istanbul Airport (IST).
Anthony’s Take: The cause of the fire has not been released. Luckily, it was contained and did not shut down the airport.
