We have been fans of Gordon Ramsay Burger in the Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Resort & Casino for years. A Chicago location opened in December 2021 and we ate there once shortly after its debut. It was just an okay experience (likely hindered by pandemic protocols). We went back this weekend and found that the restaurant has hit its stride and is almost as good as its Las Vegas sister restaurant.
Anthony’s Take: Gordon Ramsay Burger is a solid choice for a casual meal. There is a good variety of burgers on the menu and the Truffle Fries are a must. The location in Las Vegas is still our favorite, but we’ll be returning to the Chicago outpost in the near future.
Decor & Vibe
The restaurant is a large, open room with lots of wood, exposed beams and brick. A bar is on the right side and an open kitchen is in the back. The vibe is casual and you’ll find everyone from college students to families to couples dining here.
There are nods to Gordon Ramsay around the room including the Union Jack by the kitchen and a huge photo of the chef near the bar.
I like open kitchens. It’s always fascinating to see food being prepared and it takes me back to my time on the line.
Food
The menu has salads, sandwiches, apps, and of course burgers. If you’re coming to a restaurant called Gordon Ramsay Burger, you should be ordering what the restaurant is named after. Save the salad for another day. There is a special burger of the month (pictured above), but neither of us tried this one.
We ordered two Hell’s Kitchen Burgers. These were prepared as we had ordered them and flavorful. They were loaded with avocado.
To go with the burgers, we got an order of Beer-Battered Onion Rings. The batter was a bit heavy and they were served at room temperature. The Cheddar Ranch dipping sauce was excellent.
We also had to get the Truffle Fries. We have never eaten at any Gordon Ramsay Burger without this side. They could have been hotter, but they were tasty.
Drinks
Gordon Ramsay Burger has a full bar, cocktail menu, wine list, beer, and soft drinks. We had a glass of Brut Rosé and a Raspberry Rebel cocktail.
Overall Impression:
The food, service, and atmosphere are all great for a quick, casual meal. The burgers are solid here. The service was okay and some of the food could have been hotter, but we’ll definitely be grabbing burgers here in the future.
