Porter Airlines is a Toronto-based airline that connects passengers to 23 cities across Canada and the US. It announced this week that it’s adding a trio of warm weather, vacation destinations in the United States this winter. The three new routes will takeoff from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) beginning in December.
New cities served include:
- Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) (up to 1x daily; starts on November 14th)
- Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) (3x weekly; starts on December 12th)
- San Diego International Airport (SAN) (up to 4x weekly; starts on December 9th)
These new flights are operated with a 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. Porter promises that all passengers receive “celebrity treatment with Porter’s elevated economy experience.” It offers a 2-2 seating configuration and offers a premium experience to all passengers with complimentary snacks, beer and wine served in glassware, and free Wi-Fi. PorterReserve passengers enjoy additional benefits such as priority check-in, enhanced legroom, and fresh, healthy meals, while these features can also be purchased à la carte with PorterClassic fares.
Porter Airlines has grown to become the second largest airline at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) with up to 86 daily flights, which is a 19% increase from last winter’s schedule. This includes up to 20 daily departures between Toronto and the six destinations that Porter flies to in Florida. These include the new Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) flights, plus:
- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) (daily)
- Fort Myers’ Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) (daily)
- Miami International Airport (MIA) (daily)
- Orlando International Airport (MCO) (daily)
- Tampa International Airport (TPA)
Kevin Jackson, President of Porter Airlines, said:
Becoming the second-largest carrier in Toronto is the result of our passengers’ response to Porter’s elevated experience and the service provided by the entire Porter team. As a result, we’ve become a major competitor across North America by challenging the definition of what it means to travel in economy.”
Anthony’s Take: I’ve flown Air Canada and WestJet (I compared their Business Class offerings here), but still have yet to try Porter Airlines. It’s great to see the growth of this Canadian carrier and I hope to try them in the future.
