A person (not yet identified as an employee or private individual) has been pulled into the engine of a KLM Cityhopper Embraer E190 on the apron at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS). Emergency crews have responded to the tragic incident, which occurred today around 3:10 PM.

KLM flight KL1341 from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) to Billund Airport (BLL) was boarded with passengers and crew on the aircraft when this happened. Per The NL Times, the Marechaussee (the branch of the military responsible for policing the airport) released this statement:

All passengers and employees of the flight in question have disembarked and are being taken care of.”

I cannot imagine a more gruesome way to die. Last June, I wrote about a San Antonio International Airport (SAT) employee who was sucked into the engine of the Airbus A319 that had just flown Delta Air Lines flight DL1111 from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). A passenger on board then filed a $1 million lawsuit for “intentional infliction of emotional distress,” among other things. This was ruled to be a suicide.

Anthony’s Take: What a horrible way to go and I can’t imagine witnessing this horrific incident. My condolences to this person’s friends and family.
