Back in June, I wrote about how Hyatt had closed the acquisition of luxury and boutique booking platform, Mr & Mrs Smith. Today, it announced that more than 700 of these luxury and boutique hotels are now bookable through Hyatt. This expands the hotel chains footprint into 20 countries (including Namibia, Fiji, and the British Virgin Islands) it did not previously serve and adds lots of other options for World of Hyatt members.
The luxury hotel booking platform offers direct bookings at a collection of over 1,500 boutique and luxury properties. With 700 now live, we’ll hopefully see the rest added in the future. The acquisition includes 100% of the asset-light, London-based company with a price tag of around $56 million.
It’s possible to see all of the new additions (this screenshot represents the ones visible in this view). Click here and then filter to show only Mr & Mrs Smith properties. I have some travel to Puglia this summer and these additions come at a great time. What was once a desert now has multiple choices (I can’t wait to check these out).
Amy Weinberg, Senior Vice President, Brand, Loyalty and Data at Hyatt, said:
Our members truly value World of Hyatt, and we’re always looking for new ways to engage guests, help them get the most out of their travels and reward them for experiencing what the world has to offer – from cozying up in a secluded treehouse in the Arctic Circle, reigning over an English country manor, glamping under starry desert skies or going wild in a jungle villa perched above Pacific waters. True to our Be More Here platform, the addition of hundreds of hotels and villas, hand-selected by Mr & Mrs Smith, helps Hyatt welcome even more members in new destinations and deliver on our guests’ desires to have truly meaningful experiences when they travel.”
World of Hyatt members will receive the benefits listed above. These include:
- Five Base Points per $1 spent on room rates
- Standard tier Bonus Points based on elite tier (10% for Discoverist, 20% for Explorist, and 30% for Globalist)
- Credit towards earning status
- Points and free night redemptions
- Room upgrades for Globalists
- Credit towards the Brand Explorer Award
Anthony’s Take: This is great news. I can’t wait to check out all of these new options. I know where I’ll be spending some time as I click around the interactive map.
