Marriott Rebrands Three Luxury Properties in the US This Summer

Marriott International, Inc. announced plans today to convert three luxury properties in the United States and add them to its hotel portfolio. The properties are located in California, Hawaii, and New York City and each represents a nice addition to Marriott’s luxury offerings.

Marriott currently has more than 510 luxury hotels and resorts in 70 countries and territories. These luxury properties account for around 10% of Marriott’s open rooms and pipeline rooms. They fall under brands like The Ritz-Carlton (including Ritz-Carlton Reserve and The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection), Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, EDITION, The Luxury Collection, JW Marriott, and W Hotels.

On June 5th, the Conrad New York Midtown will become The Luxury Collection Hotel Manhattan Midtown. The name doesn’t roll off the tongue, but 562 rooms and suites offer The Luxury Collection’s return to New York City. The hotel offers easy access to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and more.

As I wrote about last week, The Resort at Pelican Hill will be undergoing an extensive renovation and becoming a St. Regis Hotel. This will be the second St. Regis in California with the other being in San Francisco. The property will become part of the Marriott Bonvoy® program on July 1st, but no timeline has been released for its renovations and rebranding. Southern California had a St. Regis until it rebranded in 2016. Now, Newport Beach is about to see a hotel start flying the St. Regis flag.

The iconic property located on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii has been featured in many movies and TV shows. It will be rebranded as a Ritz-Carlton property and offers oceanfront bungalows, lavish suites, and ocean view rooms. The amenities include seven secluded beaches within walking distance, 12 miles of hiking and biking trails, and a host of onsite offerings.

Anthony’s Take: I love the St. Regis and Luxury Collection brands and look forward to checking out both of these properties. Hilton and Hyatt have been making news with luxury additions and it’s good to see Marriott adding some hotels.
