Lufthansa City Airlines is a German regional airline and part of the Lufthansa Group. It began service under this name in June 2024 after a rebrand from City Airlines (which started in 2022). It has been flying with seven aircraft (four Airbus A319-100 and three Airbus A320neo that were transferred from Eurowings and Lufthansa Cityline). Yesterday, the airline took delivery of its first new aircraft.
With this additional aircraft, the fleet size has grown to eight. Five more brand-new Airbus A320neos and two additional Airbus A320neos will be added this year. In late 2026, Lufthansa City Airlines expects to take delivery of the first of 40 Airbus A220-300s it has ordered.

Peter Albers, Managing Director of Lufthansa City Airlines, said:
Our new aircraft is a further motivation and incentive for the commitment and excellent work of all our employees, who contribute to the success and growth of our airline every day.”
Anthony’s Take: Lufthansa is such a dominant force in Europe and it continues to grow with recent investments in ITA Airways, airBaltic, and more. New aircraft are always exciting and it’s great to see the fleet plans here.
