To kick off my recent Dash for Platinum (where I visited all nine Delta hubs in under 48 hours), I started the day at my winter home airport Sky Club® in Tampa International Airport. I had not been to this lounge and was impressed with the food selection and overall space.
Access
Access is granted to passengers with memberships (purchased annually), one-time pass holders (earned from the co-branded American Express cards), Delta One®, SkyTeam premium cabin passengers, SkyTeam Elite Plus when flying internationally in premium cabins, the Centurion® and the Platinum Card® from American Express holders, Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card holders, WestJet business class passengers, and WestJet Rewards Platinum and Gold Elite. Allowed guests vary by access type. A same-day boarding pass is required to enter the Delta Sky Club®.
Anthony’s Take: This lounge is at my winter home airport of TPA. I was impressed by the food selection, amount of seating, and how friendly and efficient the staff was throughout my visit. I’ll definitely be returning before and after future flights.
When entering the lounge there is a desk for checking credentials but this was not staffed. Instead, you have to take the elevator or stairs up and the agents there will handle access to the Sky Club®.
Bar
After passing the agents, you’ll find a bar on the left side. It offers all of the standard spirits, wine, and beer that Delta provides complimentary as well as some premium options for purchase. I was in the bar a little after 5:00 AM and I heard the bartender tell a guest that alcohol is served from 7:00 AM on.
Food
Across from the bar is a buffet with a plentiful breakfast selection. This includes pastries, breads, cereal, yogurt, fruit, eggs, and turkey sausage.
The buffet offers a nice variety for breakfast.
Bagels and a self-serve toaster
Breads and loaf cake
Muffins and pastries
Turkey sausage
Eggs with cheese
Fruit, granola, and croissants
Yogurt and milk
Cereal and oatmeal
An assortment of condiments
Coffee and hot water for tea
Iced tea and lemonade
Seating
There is plenty of seating in this Sky Club®. I was there early, but it looks like there is a good amount of seating based on the number of flights leaving TPA.
Amenities
This Sky Club® offers free Wi-Fi, restrooms, and the food and beverages mentioned above. It also had the fruit pictured above, wrapped and ready to take (across from the check-in desk).
Overall Impression:
The Delta Sky Club® by gate 68 in TPA offers friendly service, a buffet, full bar, and free Wi-Fi. I had a nice breakfast and know that I will be back whenever I’m flying Delta from Tampa.
