In February, I wrote about JetBlue making it possible to book award seats on flights operated by TAP Air Portugal. Today, JetBlue announced that award bookings on Icelandair are now an option for TrueBlue members.

JetBlue Icelandair

JetBlue and Icelandair have had a reciprocal points-earning relationship since 2017. Icelandair relied on JetBlue for many of its feeder flights over the past eight years. Now, TrueBlue members can redeem points for flights to Keflavík Airport (KEF) and beyond. Redemptions start fairly low in Economy Class, but in Business Class they are fairly costly (especially when you consider how inexpensively Icelandair prices its Saga (Business Class) during sales throughout the year. That said, Icelandair does not make inventory for Business Class open to any other partners (Alaska Airlines, for example, only offers Economy Class award bookings). If you have a stash of JetBlue points,

Icelandair serves 45 destinations in more than 15 countries globally. It has grown its footprint in the United States quite a bit over the past few years and it is great to see another partnership here with JetBlue. It also recently began offering some codeshare flights with Southwest Airlines. The carriers will initially partner through Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI). They will then add Denver International Airport (DEN) and Nashville International Airport (BNA) later in the year. European passengers will have access to more flights across the United States and a seamless travel experience is coming soon. Southwest and JetBlue as partners should give Icelandair great coverage for connections across the United States.

Anthony’s Take: While Business Class redemptions on Icelandair might not be cheap, it’s great to see JetBlue add another redemption partner.
