IHG Hotels & Resorts announced yesterday that it’s planning three new properties in Turks & Caicos. These include InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, and Hotel Indigo. All are set to open by 2027.
The three new resorts will be located on Turks & Caicos’ iconic Grace Bay. The three properties may be in the same neighborhood, but each offers something a little different.
- InterContinental Turks & Caicos: The new-build InterContinental Turks & Caicos will span seven stories and a beachfront location. The property will have 59 spacious suites with panoramic ocean vistas. The resort will also include a ground floor restaurant and bar, outdoor pool, on-site fitness center, and signature Club InterContinental lounge.
- Kimpton Turks & Caicos: The 192-room new-build Kimpton Turks & Caicos will be a boutique luxury property with three outdoor pools, a spa, and a fitness center. There will be seven dining options including a beachfront restaurant, rooftop bar, poolside bars, ice cream and coffee parlor, juice bar, ground floor restaurant, and lobby bar. As with all Kimptons, morning coffee and tea, evening social hour, the “Forgot It? We’ve Got It!” amenity program, in-room yoga mats, complimentary bicycles, and pet-friendly policies will be featured at this resort.
- Hotel Indigo Turks & Caicos: Hotel Indigo Turks & Caicos will embody Hotel Indigo brand’s ethos as The World’s Neighborhood Hotel. The 56-room resort will be spread over one new building as well as two existing structures that will undergo a complete renovation. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant, lobby bar, coffee shop, outdoor pool, and fitness room during their stays.
Paul Adan, Regional SVP of Development, Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean for IHG Hotels & Resorts, said:
As we expand IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle presence across the Americas, we’re doing so with thoughtful intention. Turks & Caicos is one of the Caribbean’s most spectacular destinations, and we’re excited to mark the company’s much-anticipated debut there with our InterContinental, Kimpton and Hotel Indigo brands. These stunning havens will welcome visitors and locals alike with unique, yet complementary experiences. We also are especially thrilled to expand our partnership with Molo Hotel Group.”
Grace Bay Beach is often is noted as one of the world’s best beaches. It’s known for turquoise waters, white sand beaches, and an extensive barrier reef, which makes it a top picks for scuba diving and snorkeling. Earlier this month, Marriott announced the opening of Salterra, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa. It will debut next year and has started taking reservations for February 15th. The 100-room property is located on South Caicos Island. The resort used to be the East Bay Resort, but when reopened it will be a part of Marriott Bonvoy®. The hotel will have six restaurants and bars, a spa, a fitness center, a pool, and direct beach access.
Anthony’s Take: I enjoyed staying at Point Grace Resort when it was part of Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) and partnered with World of Hyatt. There is a Ritz-Carlton Resort near Grace Bay as well, but reviews are bad and it looks rather uninviting. The new Luxury Collection property and these three resorts all look like they’re worth checking out.
