Iceland is a place that everyone should experience. We’ve been three times and I look forward to when we can return. It has an otherworldly feel and is a quick flight from the US.
Icelandair will bring a bit of the “Land of Fire and Ice” to Boston this weekend through an immersive experience with some of the country’s most unique brands including the Blue Lagoon Iceland, 66 North, and Reyka Vodka. Over the course of the three-day event, attendees can experience the natural beauty and culture through exhibits, giveaways, live music, celebrity photographers, Icelandic food and drink, and more.
Activities include:
- A real lava demonstration
- An immersive spa experience in Iceland’s wonder of the world
- Live music performances from Icelandic bands and DJs
- A live performance from Icelandic stand-up comedian, Ari Eldjarn
- A VR snowmobiling experience
- Q&A sessions with famous travel photographers
- Family day on Sunday (with a sensory-dampened hour starting at 10:00 AM)
Icelandair conducted a recent survey around US travel habits. It found that 50% are more willing to travel now than they were before the pandemic. Three of the most sought-after experiences were adventure (48%), to experience something new (41%), and nature (45%).
Bogi Nils, President & CEO of Icelandair Group, said:
Iceland is always full of excitement, beauty and adventure! Recently, the world got a glimpse of Iceland’s power when the Fagradalsfjall volcano erupted. Now, we are excited to bring some of these awe-inspiring, Icelandic wonders to Boston. During this free, award-winning event, Around the Corner, experience what it is like to see and enjoy a taste of Iceland, including snowmobiling, the Blue Lagoon and hot flowing lava. Iceland really is just around the corner with daily flights, less than 5 hours from Boston on Icelandair. We look forward to sharing a little bit of our home with you and welcoming you aboard.”
The event will be held at Garage B at the Speedway on Friday, October 20th from 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM and 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM; Saturday, October 21st from 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM and 6:00 PM to 10:00; Sunday, October 22nd from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Anthony’s Take: Iceland is one of the quickest countries to travel to from the Eastern United States. There is so much natural beauty that it’s hard to not be wowed by its waterfalls, icebergs, geysers, and more. I look forward to returning in the future.

Pretty cool indeed! Head of the Charles is this weekend as well so there will be plenty of foot traffic in the area…
I’m a local and would love to check it out, but it’s Head of the Charles weekend. While a smart move on Icelandair’s part to have the event this weekend as they’ll get a lot of walk-ins, it’ll be tough to access for those who are not already going down to the Charles. Fingers crossed it comes back!
