Delivery service DoorDash is currently offering new drivers the opportunity to earn 5,900 AAdvantage miles and 5,900 Loyalty Points. After Lucky at One Mile at a Time reported on how simple it was, I decided to give it a shot. The verdict: it was fun to deliver food while earning some cash and miles. While I won’t be quitting my day job, I enjoyed our two-hour stint delivering orders for DoorDash.

American AAdvantage Shopping

American is currently offering a promo through its AAdvantage eShopping platform. New drivers receive 5,900 miles as well as 5,900 Loyalty Points. I recently wrote about how I was participating in an offer through Hyatt to receive American AAdvantage Platinum Pro® status. I was awarded the status instantly and have it through December 5th. I need to earn Loyalty Points between now and then in order to maintain this status and I’m going for it. This offer helps on that quest.

Dasher Sign Up

Signing up through the platform was simple and I quickly passed my background check. I set up the rest of the app and was on my way.

DoorDash 1

I quickly got my first Dash. My husband, mom (who was visiting and is game for just about anything), and I hopped in the car. He drove and I ran into Starbucks to pick up a Frappuccino and a cheese plate. This was dropped off moments later and I earned an $8 payment along with the American miles and Loyalty Points. I actually enjoyed it, so we took another assignment. This brought us to a local pet store to pick up cat food. That was also quickly delivered.

Noble Thai

We then picked up two orders at Noble Thai and delivered these to their respective customers. That earned us another $9.75.

Wildfire Restaurant

Then a bigger order came through from Wildfire Restaurant. We earned $14.58 for this one. We picked up another order and earned $13.25. At this point, we had spent around two hours and earned $48.

DoorDash 3

I’ve gotten a better handle on the app and my husband and I decided that if we’re bored, we might fire up the app and Dash some more orders.

Anthony’s Take: This was a fun activity for two hours in Chicago today. I enjoyed getting out, added a few restaurants to my list of those to check out, and will do this again.
