New York City has no shortage of Hyatt properties and many of them I enjoy staying at. Hotels like the Andaz 5th Avenue, Hyatt Union Square New York, and Hyatt Herald Square New York have all hosted me for many nights. Now, the Hyatt Regency brand is coming to Times Square with the opening of the Hyatt Regency Times Square today. The 795-room property is the latest addition to the World of Hyatt® portfolio and offers another upscale option in the middle of Manhattan.
The hotel is located at 1605 Broadway, which is just steps from the energy and tourists that flock to Times Square. I used to work a few blocks away at 1410 Broadway. The Hyatt Regency Times Square combines the amenities that guests have come to expect from the Hyatt Regency along with modern design, great views, and and a sense of place in the neighborhood that surrounds it.
The property is the result of a multi-million-dollar renovation and rebrand of the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan. It was designed by Lucid, Highgate’s in-house design team, in collaboration with Gensler and Hyatt. It features:
- A dramatic two-story lobby with wood finishes, bronze accents, and colorful translucent disks reminiscent of theater marquees
- A glass atrium that offers views of the Broadway skyline
- Broadway-influenced artwork and residential-inspired furnishings
The hotel’s 795 rooms and suites offer oversized windows with panoramic views of Times Square, Broadway, and the Hudson River. Other room highlights include:
- Channel-inspired tufted headboards, marble-topped nightstands, and sleek millwork.
- Blackout curtains, built-in reading lights, and plenty of charging ports.
- A 969-square-foot penthouse suite with incredible views and the option to combine with two adjacent guest rooms.
A special MAMMA MIA!–themed suite is also offered in celebration of the musical’s return to Broadway this August. The room offers fans an immersive escape similar to the “Stay Like Wicked” suite that was offered at the New York Hilton Midtown.
Amenities include Cue 48 (a grab-and-go market), a cocktail lounge and restaurant in the lobby, a fitness center that is one of the largest hotel gyms in Manhattan, meeting space, and 290,000 square feet of modern commercial space. The Hyatt Regency Times Square is now open with rates starting at $349 per night. Those looking to redeem World of Hyatt® points will find rates between 21,000 and 29,000 per night (the hotel is classified as a Category 6 property).
A destination fee of $45.90 is added daily and waived for Hyatt Globalists. Inclusions are above.
Mohit Malhotra, General Manager of the Hyatt Regency Times Square, said:
Hyatt Regency Times Square is the most exciting recent addition to New York City’s hotel landscape. The Hyatt Regency brand offers a seamless travel experience for both business and leisure guests. The hotel’s stunning design, incredible views and exhilarating location is complemented with comfort, convenience and genuine care for our guests, World of Hyatt members and customers.”
Anthony’s Take: I always love new options in Manhattan as I am in NYC a few times a year (it used to be weekly). The Hyatt Regency brand is solid and one that I find myself at often for business trips.
