When I’m in Toronto, I often stay at the St. Regis Toronto (review here) or the Park Hyatt Toronto (review here). For this trip, I wanted something different. I decided to check out The Anndore House – JDV by Hyatt. I have long been a fan of the quirky Joie de Vivre Hospitality properties and stayed at many in San Francisco through the years. When Hyatt acquired the brand, I began seeking them out again. While they’re not as luxurious as the St. Regis or Park Hyatt, they are fun and offer a certain whimsy (while not losing out on some of comfort).
Anthony’s Take: The Andorre House – JDV by Hyatt is well located and served me well for the night. While the hotel offers limited amenities, it worked for me. The Hyatt Privé rate I booked provided excellent value and I had a delicious room service dinner with the $70 CAD credit that it included.

Booking
I booked a 1 King Bed room through Hyatt Privé for $378 per night plus taxes. It was the same rate as booking a “Member Rate” on Hyatt.com, but gave me some extra perks. If you want to get the benefits offered through Hyatt Privé (possible upgrades, a $70 CAD property credit, free breakfast for two, a welcome gift, and more), I can help with reservations. Just email me at anthony.losanno@fora.travel. This hotel falls in the Category 4 redemption bucket, which means that a standard room will cost between 12,000 and 18,000 points.

Transportation to/from the Hotel
I took an Uber Comfort from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to the hotel. It cost $49 and took about 49 minutes to drive the approximately 26.4 kilometers with light traffic. When I left the hotel to head back to the airport, I also took an Uber Comfort. It cost $55 and the ride was a little longer.
Location
The hotel is located near Dundas Square, the Royal Ontario Museum, Yorkville, as well as lots of shops and restaurants. It’s a great spot to explore the city from whether you’re there on business or for fun.

You enter through a wooden door and into a small foyer.

The lobby is tiny without any space to hang out. I liked the record theme. This was also a feature in the suite.

Water and coffee (in the morning) were found here.

The Constantine Restaurant and Lounge is on this floor.

Check-in
Reception is straight ahead. I arrived around 3:00 PM and my suite was ready. The agent that assisted me was friendly and explained the breakfast benefit that my Globalist status provided at the hotel as well as what was included with the Hyatt Privé rate. She offered me late checkout (which I did not need) and told me that I had been upgraded to a Master Suite. She then printed my keys and I was on my way.

Elevators are across from the reception area.

I liked the art nearby (flamingos are my favorite).

The elevator lobby and hallways on my floor were clean and in good repair. I loved the tile here.

Master Suite (801)
There are 115 rooms and suites at The Andorre House – JDV by Hyatt.

The suite opened with a small foyer. This is one of the two largest suites at the hotel and measures 550 square feet.

The living room area was the first part of the suite. It had a dining table with two chairs.

A welcome amenity was on the table when I arrived.

The wall across from the table held a desk along with a mini-bar area.

I thought the phone was cute.

The counter held a record player, some wine for sale, a tea kettle, a coffeemaker, water, coffee, tea, condiments, glasses, and mugs.

I did not see any records.

The refrigerator was underneath and empty for guest use.

A microwave was also found here.

A TV was mounted above.

A couch, chair, and table were nearby.

The bedroom was to the right. It held a king-sized bed and two nightstands.

The closet was an open space. An iron and ironing board were found here.

A TV was mounted to the wall.

The view overlooked the city street below.

The bathroom was off of the bedroom.

The bathroom was spacious and included a vanity with single sink, toilet, and glassed-in shower.

There was a lot of counter space. It held a good number of amenities.

Skoah brand was on the other side of the sink.

The toilet was spaced well in the room.

The shower was spacious. Water pressure and temperature were both good.

More Skoah toiletries were mounted to the wall.

Dinner
As mentioned, I received a $70 CAD food and beverage credit for booking a Hyatt Privé rate. I used this for in-room dining and had a delicious meal (it cost around $85 CAD with tip, tax, and fees). I loved the Chicken Liver Mousse and Dry Aged Duck along with my ginger ale. The flavors of both dishes were great.
Public Areas & Amenities
The hotel offers no seating and no amenities other than the restaurant. It does offer passes to Goodlife Fitness for those looking for a fitness center.
Overall Impression:
While the hotel does not offer really any amenities, it is a great spot. I enjoyed my suite and the service. I will return on a future trip to Toronto.
