Morocco is a hot destination right now. I have friends that just went and loved it. Luxury hotels have been popping up pretty quickly there with the opening of the St. Regis La Bahia Blanca Resort last year and the Park Hyatt officially opening in Marrakesh. Now, Hilton is planning to more than double its presence in the African country with the signing of nine new properties that will bring 1,300 rooms across seven brands.
New properties include:
- Waldorf Astoria Rabat Salé: this property is lated to open in 2025 inside the tallest building in Morocco (measuring 55 floors). It’s a mixed-use building with office spaces, residences, and an observatory sharing the structure with the hotel. The hotel will offer 55 guest rooms and suites, two specialty restaurants, Waldorf Astoria’s signature Peacock Alley, personal concierge services, a pool restaurant, meeting and board room spaces, a spa, an outdoor infinity pool, and a fitness studio.
- LXR Hotels & Resorts – Casablanca: I love the LXR brand. This hotel will mark the country’s debut of LXR Hotels & Resorts. It’s set to open in 2025 and will be located in Casablanca’s “Triangle d’Or” as part of the Metropolitan development, a high-end mixed-use project with residential, retail, offices, and hotels. The LXR hotel will offer 148 guest rooms and suites, three signature restaurants, a rooftop venue, a wellness spa, outdoor pool, and meeting and multifunctional spaces.
- Curio Collection by Hilton – Casablanca: The hotel is set to open in 2026 with 63 guest rooms, a fitness center, as well as access to the Metropolitan development’s food and beverage, entertainment, and retail offerings.
- Curio Collection by Hilton – Rabat: Curio Collection by Hilton Rabat is planned for 2026 with 94 guest rooms and three dining venues including a brasserie, a signature restaurant, and a rooftop restaurant alongside the swimming pool. The design draws inspiration from the Botanical Garden of Rabat and is located five minutes from the Royal Palace of Rabat and 30 minutes from the Rabat-Salé Airport (RBA).
- Hilton Rabat: The Hilton will offer 162 modern guest rooms and suites and will be Hilton’s flagship Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand in Morocco’s capital city. The hotel is scheduled to open in 2026 and it will be situated within a master development plan for the Capital Mall. Guests will have access to an indoor and outdoor pool, a spa, and a fitness center. Dining will be available at the specialty restaurant, lobby, or pool bar.
- DoubleTree by Hilton Casablanca City Centre: Opening later this year, DoubleTree by Hilton Casablanca City Centre will soon welcome travelers with its signature warm cookie. The hotel will have 389 guest rooms and suites, four specialty restaurants, a lobby bar, a tea lounge, leisure and recreational facilities, a spa, 13 meeting rooms, and a grand ballroom.
- Hilton Garden Inn Casablanca City Centre: Hilton Garden Inn Casablanca City Centre is set for a 2026 opening and will bring the brand’s upscale and affordable hospitality to Casablanca. The hotel will have 176 guest rooms, an all-day dining venue, a café, and a lobby bar.
- Hampton by Hilton Ben Guerir: Hampton by Hilton Ben Guerir is set to open next year within the Green City of Benguérir. The hotel will offer 94 guest rooms, a dining and lounge area, and a fitness center.
- Hampton by Hilton Fes Golf: Fes is considered the spiritual and cultural capital of Morocco and it’s one of the four imperial cities dating back to the 13th century. The hotel is set to open in 2027 will be strategically located adjacent to the Oued Fes Golf Resort. It will feature 161 guest rooms, an outdoor pool, and three meeting rooms.
Carlos Khneisser, vice president, Development, Middle East and Africa, Hilton, said:
With 13.1 million tourists visiting Morocco in the first nine months of this year, an increase of around two million compared to the same period last year, the country is experiencing significant momentum as a sought-after tourist destination. These nine new signings will add more than 1,300 rooms and around 1,500 team members to Hilton’s growing portfolio in Morocco, where we plan to expand our footprint to over 20 hotels in the coming years. The introduction of new brands – and expansion of existing ones – demonstrates our commitment to catering to the different needs of guests visiting the country where we’ve enjoyed a strong legacy dating back almost six decades. We look forward to working closely with our valued owners to deliver Hilton’s globally recognized hospitality to guests at these outstanding hotels.”
Anthony’s Take: United will be flying to Morocco and it’s looking like a 2025 trip is in order. There are now many new luxury hotel choices and I’ll have to decide what works best.
