Frontier Airlines is set to discontinue service to eight destinations as part of its latest round of network adjustments. These reflect the carrier’s ongoing effort to refine its route map and focus capacity on higher-demand markets, but are going to leave some smaller airports with less options.
The affected cities span a mix of regional airports and leisure-focused destinations across the United States and the Caribbean. These include:
- Burlington International Airport (BTV)
- Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport (GRB)
- Harrisburg International Airport (MDT)
- Missoula Montana Airport (MSO)
- Portland International Jetport (PWM)
- Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV)
- St. Croix’ Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (STX)
- St. Thomas’ Cyril E. King Airport (STT)

The move aligns with a broader trend among ultra-low-cost carriers of reallocating aircraft to routes with stronger seasonal performance and higher revenue potential.
In addition to the airports noted above, Frontier has not indicated any plans to return to these after May (current schedules run into September):
- Boise Airport (BOI)
- Charleston International Airport (CHS)
- Spokane International Airport (GEG)
- Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR)
- Tulsa International Airport (TUL)
Anthony’s Take: Frontier seems to add and cut routes faster than any other carrier. We’ll see if any of these routes return in the future and where the low-cost carrier adds routes to utilize these aircraft.
