Flair Airlines is a Canadian low-cost carrier based in Edmonton, Alberta. It operates a fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft with a route network that serves 25 cities across Canada, the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean. This week, the airline announced that it will begin service from both Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Mexico City International Airport (MEX) starting in October.
Both routes will be offered 3x weekly with Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) starting on October 28th and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) taking off on October 27th. Mexico City is one of my favorite foodie cities and it’s great to see more flights there. Flair Airlines currently flies to Cancún International Airport (CUN), Guadalajara International Airport (GDL), and Puerto Vallarta’s Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR).
Maciej Wilk, CEO of Flair Airlines, said:
For too long, flights to Mexico City have been out of reach for too many. We’re changing that. Flair is the only value airline in Canada, making it possible for customers to explore the capital of Mexico, and for Mexicans to discover all that Toronto and Vancouver have to offer. Whether it’s a long-awaited visit with loved ones or a chance to explore one of the world’s great cities, Flair is committed to making air travel more accessible, seamless, and affordable for Canadians, Mexicans, and everyone in between.”
Mexican Acting Consul General, Luis Hernandez, added:
Mexico and Canada have long enjoyed a close and dynamic relationship, connecting families, businesses, and curious travelers who explore each other’s rich cultures. On behalf of the Consulate General of Mexico in Vancouver, I am delighted to welcome Flair’s new direct flights to Mexico City from Vancouver and Toronto. Expanding reliable and affordable air service strengthens the vital links between our two nations and opens new opportunities for travel, tourism, and economic exchange.”
Anthony’s Take: Flair cut several US routes earlier this year. It’s good to finally see some expansion in North America.
