St. Regis has long been one of my favorite brands in Marriott’s hotel portfolio. To date, there is only one location in Florida. The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort is one of my favorite properties in the United States and I have stayed there many times through the years. Florida will soon have the new St. Regis Longboat Key (which is near Sarasota). We recently stayed at The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota (full review here) and had a good staycation. With the coming opening of this property, I see another for us in the fall.
Bookings are currently open for reservations starting in October, but The Points Guy reports that the property expects to open in July and will allow bookings closer to then once it has a more concrete opening schedule.
Winfred van Workum, General Manager of St. Regis Longboat Key, told The Points Guy:
I’m pretty convinced that most people when they walk in [will] say ‘wow.’ But I really hope after the first day, they walk away and say, ‘This is the best service I’ve ever received.’ We’re really trying to personalize this experience, and I think we really have the ability because of our size and amenities. We can really get to know our guests and really personalize your stay.”
The resort will have 168 guest rooms including 26 suites. High-end finishes are to be expected at a St. Regis property and this one will have wood plank flooring, rainfall showers, freestanding bathtubs, and walk-in closets. It also touts the St. Regis signature butler service, which I completely avoid. I tell the hotel at check-in that I don’t want to meet the butler or have them come near the room. I find it more annoying than useful as I don’t need help packing or unpacking, go to Starbucks, and don’t generally want people in my room.
The property has some exciting features for relaxing including an 800-foot private, white-sand beach, a 20,000-square-foot oceanfront spa, a fitness center, and a 475-foot-long winding river. I love that this property will have a lazy river and can’t wait to check it out. The property encompasses 18 acres and is on the beach (unlike The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota, which requires a shuttle ride).
Anthony’s Take: I’m excited about a future stay at this property. This will make for a perfect weekend staycation this fall as it’s only around 90 minutes from me in Tampa.
