National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day is this Sunday, August 4th. DoubleTree by Hilton is celebrating by baking up cookies for guests checking in (which is the brand’s standard) as well as for anyone who stops by one of the hotels.
Both guests and the general public can visit a DoubleTree by Hilton in the United States and choose from a complimentary original warm chocolate chip cookie or the allergy-friendly version. The DoubleTree Cookie debuted in 1986 and has a cult-like following around the world. Each year, more than 20 million of the original DoubleTree by Hilton cookies are served at hotels globally.
In 2019, the DoubleTree cookie made aerospace history when it was baked in orbit aboard the International Space Station. As the first-ever food baked in space, the DoubleTree cookie is now on display at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.
Last year, I wrote about DoubleTree by Hilton beginning to offer a new allergy-friendly chocolate chip cookie from Partake Foods (alongside the original DoubleTree chocolate chip cookie). This will make the welcome treat more accessible to guests who might be allergic to wheat, tree nuts, peanuts, dairy, eggs, soy, fish, sesame, or shellfish (hopefully a few of those are not in the original cookies). More than 32 million people in the United States have food allergies, intolerances, or dietary preferences.
If you can’t make it to one of the 400 DoubleTree by Hilton hotels across the US on Sunday, you can find the official recipe to make some at home. DoubleTree freely shares it.
Anthony’s Take: Who doesn’t love a warm chocolate chip cookie? If you’re staying at a DoubleTree by Hilton in the US or are near one, stop by for a treat on Sunday.
