Delta Air Lines is continuing its aggressive push into Central Texas with the addition of a new nonstop route between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX).

The new service will launch on November 9th with 2x daily flights operated by Delta Connection using Embraer E175 aircraft.

The addition of Phoenix further strengthens Delta’s network connectivity in Austin. The route is already served by American Airlines and Southwest Airlines. The route also connects two rapidly growing tech and manufacturing hubs with semiconductor investments in both regions adding to business travel demand.

The new route is just one piece of Delta’s expanding footprint at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) where the airline is positioning itself as a major competitor and continues to frequently add routes. Delta has already established a flight attendant base in the city and is targeting up to 150 daily departures in the future. The airline is also investing heavily in infrastructure, with plans for two lounges, including a premium Delta One® lounge, and 15 preferential-use gates in the airport’s upcoming concourse expansion.

Delta currently offers the following routes from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS):

  • Asheville Regional Airport (AVL)
  • Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
  • Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN)

By expanding routes like Phoenix and potentially launching long-haul service to Asia (including a proposed Seoul connection), Delta is building a network designed to attract and retain high-value travelers.

Anthony’s Take: As Delta continues to scale its Austin operation, the addition of key domestic routes like Phoenix highlights its strategy of combining strong local demand with broader network connectivity. It’s exciting to see so much growth and Delta work to have a Texas airport with so many options (like what American and United have already).
