Panamanian airline and Star Alliance member, Copa Airlines, was established in 1947 and currently serves more than 80 destinations in 32 countries across the Caribbean, Latin America, and the United States. The airline just updated its schedule for December and it’s increasing the frequency on several routes between Panama’s Tocumen International Airport (PTY) and the US.
The increased frequency includes Panama’s Tocumen International Airport (PTY):
- Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) (increases from 4x to 5x weekly)
- Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) (increases from 4x to 5x weekly)
- Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) (increases from 4x to 5x weekly)
- Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) (increases from 4x to 5x weekly)
- San Diego International Airport (SAN) (increases from 4x to 5x weekly)
It’a also rumored that one of my home airports, Tampa International Airport (TPA), will increase its flights to 10x weekly). Flights to/from San Diego International Airport (SAN) just began in June and are already being bumped up. The 18 US cities it serves, include:
- Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL)
- Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS)
- Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)
- Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
- Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
- Denver International Airport (DEN)
- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
- Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)
- Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
- Miami International Airport (MIA)
- Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY)
- New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
- Orlando International Airport (MCO)
- Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU)
- San Diego International Airport (SAN)
- San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
- Tampa International Airport (TPA)
- Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
Anthony’s Take: I have been to Panama a few times and enjoyed those trips. I love that a nonstop flight is offered from Tampa and that the frequency is increasing across so many US airports.

Unfortunately for me, your list of airports is incorrect. After the pandemic, Copa never resumed flights to MSY.
