Brussels Airlines is adding a distinctly Belgian flavor to its onboard experience by partnering with artisanal ice cream brand Ralph & Roxy’s to bring the small-batch treat to passengers across its long-haul network. The Leuven-based ice cream maker will produce approximately 420,000 servings annually for the airline.

Ralph & Roxy’s began as a passion project in a small garage in Nodebais where founder Philippe Bogaert crafted ice cream recipes in limited batches. What started as a hobby has since evolved into a growing business and it now reaches hundreds of thousands of international travelers. At the time of initial discussions with Brussels Airlines, the brand was still in its infancy and had yet to establish its identity. The partnership helped transform the venture into a professional operation by providing a platform for expansion and visibility.

The ice cream was first introduced in Business Class earlier this year and has now been rolled out to the Premium Economy and Economy Class cabins. This expansion ensures that all long-haul passengers can enjoy the locally produced treat. By extending the offering across the entire aircraft, Brussels Airlines is reinforcing its commitment to enhancing the onboard experience for all travelers.

The partnership is part of a broader effort by Brussels Airlines to highlight Belgian creativity and entrepreneurship. The airline has recently collaborated with local designers and artisans on uniforms and amenity kits. The initiative aligns with the airline’s goal of bringing a sense of place onboard and offers passengers a taste of Belgium throughout their journey.

Philippe Bogaert, Founder of Ralph & Roxy’s, said:

Ralph & Roxy’s has always been small and honest: pure ingredients, pure passion. But when I heard that Brussels Airlines wanted to take our ice creams on board, it felt like the world stopped for a moment. Unbelievable. That something that started in a tiny production space is now allowed to take to the air – that remains for me one of the most beautiful moments in this adventure.”

Anthony’s Take: The partnership not only elevates the onboard catering experience, but also demonstrates how small, local businesses can gain global exposure through aviation and connect their products with travelers from around the world.
