British Airways has been flying between London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and Austin–Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) for the past 10 years. To celebrate this anniversary, the airline has partnered with Austin’s famed barbecue joint, Franklin Barbecue.
Club World customers flying during the month of March will receive limited edition bottles of their Original BBQ sauce, renamed BA-B-Q sauce. In addition to the gift of sauce, customers will be able to enjoy a taste of Austin onboard with a menu that pays homage to the city’s legendary barbecue. Club World customers flying from Austin will have the option to dine on beef brisket served with sweet corn pudding, bean stew, pickled cucumber, and red onion and vegetable slaw. World Traveller passengers can choose a smoky chicken barbecue dish served with rice and beans.
Calum Laming, British Airways’ Chief Customer Officer, said:
We’re excited to celebrate a decade of connecting Austin and London. At British Airways we’re committed to providing an exceptional and original experience for our customers and we’re always looking for new ways to do that. Bringing the flavours of Austin to the skies with this special menu is one way of us celebrating this remarkable city and expressing gratitude for the support we’ve received over the past 10 years. And we can’t wait for customers to enjoy our limited edition bottles of Franklin Barbecue’s Original BBQ sauce.”
British Airways flies direct to London from 26 US cities. It launched flights to Austin on March 3, 2014 and currently serves it daily with an Airbus A350 aircraft.
Anthony’s Take: Franklin Barbecue offers amazing meals. I’ve dined there in the past and found the meat sublime. It’s cool to see British Airways incorporate the restaurant and its sauce into Austin flights to celebrate the anniversary.
