I spend half the year in Tampa, so I’m always interested when new routes are added. Breeze Airways announced today that it’s expanding its international network with two new nonstop routes from Tampa International Airport (TPA). The airline will add service to San José in Costa Rica and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. The announcement marks Breeze’s fifth international destination since the airline received certification as a US Flag carrier from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) last fall. With the new routes, the airline’s network now includes more than 300 nonstop routes connecting 87 cities across the United States, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.

If you’re not familiar with them, Breeze Airways is a low-cost airline that offers point-to-point flights to underserved markets across the United States using a fleet of modern Airbus A220 aircraft. I’ve flown Breeze several times and enjoyed the experience, overall (you can read the latest review here). Travel & Leisure named it as one of the five best US airlines for the fourth consecutive year in 2025.

The airline will launch two international routes from Tampa as part of its continued expansion into leisure markets. Nonstop service between Tampa International Airport (TPA) and Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) will begin July 2nd. The route will operate 2x weekly on Thursdays and Sundays.

Later in the year, Breeze will begin nonstop flights between Tampa International Airport (TPA) and San José’s Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO). The route is scheduled to launch October 3rd and will operate 2x weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The new routes reflect Breeze Airways’ strategy of connecting underserved cities with popular leisure destinations through direct flights. Since launching operations, the airline has focused on providing nonstop service between smaller or underserved markets that often lack direct connections. The carrier says this approach helps make travel easier and more convenient for millions of passengers across the country.

David Neeleman, Founder and CEO of Breeze Airways, said:

This announcement doubles the number of international destinations Breeze serves from Tampa, making it easy for our Guests to visit great places across Central America and the Caribbean. With Breeze’s premium product offering and affordable fares, we know our Guests in Tampa will love this new and convenient international service.”

Anthony’s Take: With the addition of the new Costa Rica and Dominican Republic routes, Breeze continues to grow its international footprint while expanding travel options from Tampa and other underserved US markets. It’s always exciting to see new options here.
